Southern Elegance Candle Co.Founder and CEO D'Shawn Russell draws on her childhood experiences in small town NC to bring us the scent of Southern traditions and places. Comforting and inviting, her hand-poured candles capture life in the South. Raeford, NC

Lusty Monk MustardIn medieval Europe, there was a belief that spicy foods could "warm the blood" and lead to lustful tendencies. As a result, a few very strict orders of monks were forbidden to eat mustard, lest they fall prey to carnal desires. Other monasteries embraced mustard-making and turned it into an art form. In a salute to those “lusty monks,” and in that grand tradition, LMM handcrafts mustards from Asheville, NC to share with friends and family

Poppy PopcornGinger started Poppy for one simple reason: she wanted to be there for her kids’ school programs, baseball games and performances. In late 2014, armed with a hard work ethic and one popcorn machine, Ginger opened up shop. Poppy is still hand-crafted with love in Asheville, NC. This ensures that every batch is as delicious as the popcorn made by Ginger when Poppy first opened its doors.

Old Mill of GuilfordDating back to 1767, this historic mill still uses water power from the Haw River to grind local farmers grains. Located in what is now Guilford County, NC.

Asheville Tea Company Asheville Tea Company crafts farm to teacup blends for a vibrant taste of our region. Their mission is to redefine how teas are sourced and enjoyed by partnering with small, regional farmers who utilize sustainable and regenerative agricultural practices. Woman-owned.

 Bertie County Peanuts Since 1915, this now 4th generation family business, located in Windsor, NC had been producing peanuts. Surrounded by beautiful waterways, creating a perfect rich fertile, sandy soil just right for growing some of the best peanuts in the country.

Big Spoon Roasters Inspired by his time in the Peace Corps in Zimbawe, co-founder Mark Overbay began roasting peanuts for butters in his kitchen in Durham, NC in 2010. Mark and co-founder Megan began selling their nut-butters in 2011 and the rest is history. Delicious, roasted, nut-buttery history.

Bone Suckin' Sauce Phil Ford (not the basketball player), a real estate appraiser and father of four in Raleigh, North Carolina, developed his sauce around 1987 while trying to copy his mother’s recipe for a western North Carolina-style barbecue sauce. The resulting fat-free, fragrant blend includes: tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, honey, molasses, mustard, horseradish, lemon juice, onions, garlic, peppers, natural hickory smoke, natural spices and salt.

Bourbon Barrel Foods Established in 2006 in Louiville, KY as the U.S.’s only soy sauce microbrewery, Bourbon Barrel Foods has become a cornerstone in both the bourbon and gourmet foods industries. All of Bourbon Barrel Foods’ products incorporate innovative uses of bourbon barrels and are crafted with care in small batches.

Bruce Julian Heritage Foods Over the years Bruce Julian (son of Milton, nephew to Bruce), a haberdasher from North Carolina, had been on a quest to create the perfect Bloody Mary and he nailed it with his award winning mix! In 2014 Bruce Julian Bloody Mary Mix was introduced! 

Bull City Pepper Co.Bull City Pepper Co. was founded in 2017 by four friends that grew up in RTP, NC area. Their small batch sauces are created with seedlings in Durham, NC, fully grown in Cedar Grove, NC and hand-bottled in small batches.

 Butterfields BudsMaintaining a 90 year old tradition, Butterfields Buds are handmade in large copper kettles in the traditional way. Since 1924, master confectioners have been overseeing the candy making from their Nashville, NC base.

Dewey's BakeryFounded in downtown Winston-Salem, NC during the Great Depression in 1930, Dewey's became known for thin, crisp Moravian Cookies, originally created by immigrants who journeyed Winston-Salem in the 1700’s from the European kingdom of Moravia. They quickly became a worldwide favorite and holiday tradition.

Dr. Pete's Gourmet MixesDr. T. A. Peterson, known as Dr. Pete to his patients, was reared in the sleepy south Georgia town of Ailey. As much as Dr. Pete loved his practice of medicine, he equally loved the art of cooking, spending hours creating and preparing wonderful dishes. In 1985, his daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Joel Coffee, began bottling some of his recipes, and selling them to the public under the "Dr. Pete's" label. 

Elaine O'Neill (artist)For textile collage artist Elaine O’Neil, life is a collection of experiences that inspires her the way that breathing new life into found fabrics does.  Creating from her home studio in Hillsborough, NC, Elaine is a master at “connecting pieces of the heart” through her art.

French Broad ChocolatesIn 2012, Dan and Jael’s dream of becoming bean-to-bar chocolate makers was realized, and they opened French Broad Chocolate Factory & Tasting Room on Buxton Avenue in Asheville. Intent on nurturing connections to the source, FBC began sourcing cacao from trusted farmers and transforming it into fine chocolate, which we continue to this day.

Ginny O'sCrafted from a family recipe dating to when Ginny's family built the historic Oakview estate in Raleigh, NC. Ginny has since perfected that recipe  and this Southern specialty has been shared all over the world (they've been served on Air Force One and featured on "Oprah") Raleigh, NC

Postre CaramelsHusband and wife team Jamie and Joe started their "Postre" (postre means dessert in Spanish- a nod to Jamie's heritage) journey as a dessert item in their restaurant in Washington State. After moving to Asheville, NC they began selling in local markets in 2014. Each caramel product they produce represents true craftsmanship and high-quality ingredients that are either organic or locally sourced and include absolutely no preservatives.

Roots and BranchesRoots & Branches is a family-owned and operated artisanal bakery located in Asheville, North Carolina. Since 2011 they have been crafting small-batch handmade crackers and flatbreads utilizing real food, high-quality ingredients and meticulous baking techniques.

San Giuseppe Salami Co.Drawing from their Italian heritage, Giacomo and Laura Santomauro started an Italian market in central NC, using a borrowed deli slicer from his dad's deli in Long Island. In 2007 recognizing a larger need for quality Italian meats, San Giuseppe Salami Co was launched. Vivian HowardAward-winning chef, television host, and author Vivian Howard celebrates the foodways of the south, Put-Ups takes a modern approach to traditional flavors that help you elevate dishes as easily as a slather or rub. Born in Deep Run, NC, to tobacco and hog farming parents, Vivian upbringing was steeped in the food traditions of her neighbors. After honing her culinary skills under esteemed chefs in New York City, Vivian returned home to Eastern North Carolina to open her first restaurant, Chef & the Farmer, in Kinston in 2005. Vivian and her restaurants have won numerous accolades, including her selection as a five-time James Beard Foundation Award semifinalist for Best Chef: Southeast. She is the host of the award-winning documentary television series, A Chef’s Life, that celebrates eastern North Carolina food traditions.
